hot dog farewell party!
what says farewell to a great friend better than a surprise party?! i honestly can’t believe we kept it a secret but anna was totally shocked when she arrived after the canoe trip! we went with a hot dog theme which comes as no surprise if you know anna! anna will eat a hot dog anytime, anywhere in any city in the world and we have pictures to prove it! we had photos of anna eating hotdogs in nashville, chicago, and spain framed and placed all over. using picnic tablecloths and lots of yummy toppings we made anna her very own hot dog stand! my sister, hannah, made the cutest hot dog cupcakes. it was a huge hit! anna’s farewell party was a success….and now i will proceed to lay in bed all day and cry because my best friend is leaving me.

canoe run!
my best friend is moving to san francisco! boooooo! anna has been one of my best friends since i revolutionized her life with the straightening iron at cheerleading camp in the early 2000s. we’ve been through lots of highs and a few lows together and we had soooo much fun when we lived together in college. i am so happy for my friend but sad she is moving so far away. to celebrate her departure, anna wanted to take a canoe trip down shoals creek. little did she know, we also planned a surprise party for her post-canoe run at my parents house (those pictures will come in a later post)! we had an incredibly fun time canoeing so i thought i’d share some photos from the day. we looooooove you, nan!!

fifth grade recap!
happy monday! summer is in full swing here….our grass is super green {thanks to my husband, the grass whisperer}, the pool is open and i’m starting to acquire a pretty good tan {yay!}. i really can’t believe how fast fifth grade came and went. time never flew by so fast before i became a parent, but thanks to landan, i think i stop and smell the roses a little bit more than i did before. the simplest things are now the things that make me the happiest. this school year was a busy one and i didn’t blog near as much i should have about all the things landan did throughout the year…so, without further ado, i bring you a fifth grade recap!

mother’s day 2013
hi! here’s a belated mother’s day photo dump. 
we had a great day with our families. we are blessed to have the best mothers in the world! i’m grateful to have two fun families to spend the day with.
of course, landan spent most of this day with his mom, but it sure made my day when i received a text message from him first thing in the morning that said: “Happy Mother’s Day!!! You are an outstanding stepmom.” our boy is so sweet.

flying pig half marathon!
i’m back with another post featuring our weekend trip to cincinnati! this post contains photos from my DSLR camera and my iPhone, so the quality of some pictures may be low… nonetheless, i wanted to share them all.

hi friends!
as you probably know, for the past five months or so, i’ve been training for the flying pig half marathon with team in training. as a team in training volunteer, i committed to raise at least $1,850.00 and run 13.1 miles at the flying pig half marathon. the fundraising and training efforts culminate in an epic event weekend…complete with an inspiration dinner and victory party. so last weekend, my boys and i took up trip up i-65 to cincinnati (a first visit for all of us!) we had fun exploring the city during our free time on friday and saturday.

in an effort to be a better blogger (and to avoid collecting dust on my camera-life is crazy busy lately!) i’m going to share some photos from our perfect saturday! i just love, love, love having my husband home on the weekends. we have so much time together as a family and it’s been fun making our new house a cozy home.
we started off the day with a lot of sweating and lifting weights then cleaned ourselves up for landan’s spring soccer game!
